(commonly abbreviated as BtMI!) is a musical collective originally from Baldwin, Nassau County, New York. They write, produce, record, and distribute all of their music under the leadership of songwriter and producer Jeff Rosenstock.
They are known for their DIY punk ethic, embodied in such actions such as distributing six albums worth of their own material for free on their website, and offering free stencils and paint for fans to create their own T-shirts. They also offer their fans a chance to perform on stage if they learn a song and bring their instrument to the show. Beginning in April 2009, the band will only play all-ages shows with ticket prices of $10 or less. Rosenstock and several other contributors were previously members of The Arrogant Sons of Bitches. As that band was breaking up, Rosenstock recorded the first Bomb The Music Industry! song, “Sweet Home Cananada” using his PowerBook’s built-in microphone. “I wrote that song and put it out to see if anybody wanted it. That was how it started, people showed interest and I like recording stuff.” Bomb the Music Industry! plays a blend of several musical styles anchored in ska and hardcore punk. The influences go deeper than ska and punk, however, as studio experimentation, synth-pop, and dc hardcore all pop up in the mix. Rosenstock says bands such as Harvey Danger and Neutral Milk Hotel are as much an influence as evidenced by tracks such as “This Graceless Planet” (an adaptation of a song by We Versus The Shark into the musical aesthetic of Bomb the Music Industry!)

LastFM.

Styrofoam

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 316px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Q0BMjY-WQus/S0OnRSM9DEI/AAAAAAAAANk/rFN5AQOUYN8/s320/StyrofoamNL.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5423362291669994562" />Not really a new or unknown artist or anything. I really wanted to post more than just acoustic stuff on here and he is one of my favorite electronic artists. I came to know him through a Tyler Shields video that included one of his better songs "Couches in Alleys" (ft. Death Cab's Ben Gibbard) a few years back and find myself occasionally putting his music on.

Per Lastfm:

Styrofoam (Arne Van Petegem) is a Belgian one man glitch electronica project on the independent record label Nettwerk.

In his earlier days, his composings embraced an ambient and minimal angle - which still can be heard in his later works - and were generally less song-structured. Gradually, the music of Styrofoam became more and more influenced by indietronica, indiepop and emohiphop, which resulted in the album Nothing’s Lost, that gave him an international recognition.

Couches in Alleys- Styrofoam Ft. The band will begin recording their debut album in May of 2008 for a release later this fall.

My favorite song from them called "Coney Island".
Courtesy of www.ifyoumakeit.com

Lastfm.

Black Kids

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 214px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Q0BMjY-WQus/S0Jn69ysNHI/AAAAAAAAANc/Zgk_aRerhfI/s320/Black%2BKids.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5423011164024747122" />
Per Lastfm.

Black Kids are an indie rock band who formed in Jacksonville, Florida, United States in 2006. Rolling Stone called them one of ten “Artists to Watch” in 2008 and they were also included in the BBC Top 10 Sound of 2008 poll. Their debut album, Partie Traumatic, was released in July 2008 and debuted at #5 on the UK Albums Chart.

The band consists of Reggie Youngblood (vocals and guitar), Owen Holmes (bass guitar), Kevin Snow (drums and percussion), Dawn Watley (keyboards and vocals), and Reggie’s sister Ali Youngblood (keyboards and vocals). They started out playing shows in Jacksonville, often as a supporting act for more well-known bands coming through town.

...more

A fun band to listen to. Over all it was what most Tarantino films are, entertaining. The two brothers, Seth and Scott, formed the group after the breakup of the former rock band, Nemo, adding a third member, Bob Crawford. More recently, they have been joined by cellist Joe Kwon. The Avett Brothers combine old-time country, bluegrass, punk, pop melodies, folk, rock and roll, honky tonk and ragtime to produce a sound described by the Washington Post as “post civil-war modern rock”, or by other reviewers as “grungegrass”. For a long time the group eschewed labels, feeling that “none would do the music justice.” Ironically the Avetts signed to Columbia Records on Independence Day 2008 to record their fifth album with acclaimed producer Rick Rubin. It’s simply left up to each person to extract his or her own account from the Avetts’ music.”

Their live performances, generally at smaller venues, showcase their use of three-part harmony and southern rock feel, and are admired for being intense, energetic, and soulful. The Avetts have been picking up steam opening for Dave Matthews Band and playing SXSW and Newport Folk Festival.

Saw these guys a year or two ago.. you could tell they genuinely love playing their music.

Lastfm

Sherlock Holmes

What I can pretty much say is that it was exactly what I thought it would be. Over all I thought it was pretty good. Although Jimmy Page is really the only musician of the three I am really a big fan of, it was interesting to hear the other two's thoughts. Jack White provided a lot of insight into his style, and gave me a lot of reasons to respect him. "The Edge" as well I guess though im not a fan of u2 at all. Over all if youre a fan of either three of these musicians or just like music based documentaries its definitely worth a watch. 6/10.

IMDB

speaking of lastfm...

speaking of lastfm add me; 10minstolive

Paul Baribeau

Per Lastfm.
Paul Baribeau’s warm, witty sounds and gnarly beard bring something truly unique and interesting to the folk-punk table. With such well-known friends as Matty Pop Chart and Kimya Dawson, the South Central Michigan native collaborates often, but has two of his own beautiful solo records out on Plan-It-X.

One of my favorite musicians. I was expecting some sappy love movie and it had its fair share of odd moments but over all I thought it was a pretty good movie. For a movie that I cant really relate to on a personal level it did a good job of getting me interested in what was happening to the characters. 7/10.

IMDB
